Gaia Reborn
Gaia Reborn, the hottest MMORPG of the last decade, has seen millions of players experience its unique world - a combination of fantasy and reality. When Gaia Reborn was a game, one goal was to make the game world a one-half scale model of the real world. This pursuit was known as the Half-Gaia Project, and it is one of the aspects which led to Gaia Reborn becoming such a popular virtual world. With regional servers having unique areas, quests, cities, and monsters, it wasn't uncommon for people to create alternate characters on other servers to experience what felt like an entirely new game.
Ten years after the game's launch, millions of players have joined and created countless characters across the many servers. Now, with the release of the latest expansion, Pioneers of Arcadia, many are getting ready to begin new adventures in the new Italian server, exploring the new region corresponding to Italy, known in Gaia as Italia. Characters would have to start from fresh in this new world, but Italy would finally get its own piece of this world.
Countless players created their characters, logged in with excitement fueling their hands as the cursor swept across the screen, and then... darkness... Everything was black, and as their eyes opened, the players found themselves in the streets of an unfamiliar city. Looking around to survey their surroundings, many players realized this city was not so new after all. While desolate and ruined, the architecture conquered by vines and greenery, this city was unmistakably Rome, but at the same time, it was not. Finding themselves in the bodies of their characters, trapped in the world of Gaia Reborn, players are left to adapt to their new reality in this fantasy world.

Notes:Day 1 thread. Starts immediately after the apocalypse. Heading to the woods.
It finally finished downloaded. Gaia Online; how long had it been since he last even bothered to look at the game? The man had been known on a few of the other servers as a massive black-armored man but it had been a while since he had actually used that persona. His avatar was made; crafted just as he preferred it. Tall, muscular, handsome; it was everything he was but also everything he missed. A bright green light flashed in the corner. Play. 'Go on then Artyom, click. Click the button.'
He didn't know why he hesitated so. Such a delay was unnecessary and was very uncharacteristic of him to have. Was it the thought of people recognizing him early that scared him? No, that wasn't it. This ghastly feeling that filled his gut as he stared at the launcher was almost overpowering. 'Just click the button. It can't be that bad.'
Click. A light-flooded his vision, then blackness. At first, he was confused with what exactly happened. Did he faint? Was it that he forgot to breathe? No, that wasn't right. His arms were very capable of movement as they stretched across the grass on the ground; wait, grass? Is this not his home in London? A soft breeze danced across his face carrying an odd earthy scent, prompting him to open his eyes wide.
What a bright morning it was; the sky was a bright blue with a golden corona resting on the horizon filled his eyes. Such bright light caused him to squint heavily from the sudden strain as he sat up from the ground. It took a while for his eyes to adjust to the sudden brightness as if they had been closed for a long period of time and his head started aching. With a simple movement, he reached up and massaged his temples. "Just... what happened." His face was smooth, the deep caverns of scars were no longer there causing the man to stop abruptly before jumping to his feet.
Click, clack, the sound of metal followed. "What in the..." Now the man was checking over his body. A quick feeling of vertigo came over him as he looked down. From the new distance, he looked down at his feet from it seemed he easily grew around 8 inches, if not a full foot taller. Hyperventilating, the man quickly looked around him. There had to be something he could use to inspect himself. Everything was wrong; his face was smooth, he was far too tall, and he was wearing this thick plated armor. One thing that stuck out the most, was this appeared to be the beginners' gear.
In the distance he saw a small puddle of water in the center of what looked like a run-down marble structure; had it recently rained? Nonetheless, he needed to use this puddle to check just who the man was. Stepping forward, he looked over into the puddle, expecting still to see a reflection of his old face. For a second, he could swear he saw the faint reflection but as if came into focus it was some alien face. Who was this man staring back at me? He had smooth skin and looked much younger than Artyom was and he had this straight shortened hair. What made matters worse, is he had this serious scowl on his face; wait, that was his own resting expression.
A few faces would be made, and each face he made was mimicked by the reflection in the puddle. "No... it can't..." shock filled his face as he fell backward. "Am... am I in Gaia!?" Something in the back of his mind was telling him to open the interface, but he mostly ignored it for now as he stood to his full height and surveyed the area. Within his vision there appeared to be a few more people going through the same thing as him; at least, they seemed to be as confused as they are. Dreading the thought of interacting with any of these other adventurers, he pushed forward.
This was still the world of Gaia, which meant he needed to become strong before anyone else did. The last thing he wanted was to become trapped by other players killing each other over resources. It was decided; he would head out of whatever run-down city they were currently in, and he would get a lead over the other players. Beginning his march, Delar was determined to get ahead. A few others here and there waved to him or worse yet, asked for assistance; Delar would simply ignore them and continue walking. Not even eye contact would be made to these other 'players,' if they even were. From what Delar could tell, he was now his own character, so who knows what else could have happened. Perhaps this world was all people like himself, or perhaps they were all non-player characters with no true purpose other than to aid the adventurers in their quests. Such thoughts were beyond him; he needed to push forward, and push forward he did.

Notes:Reached the woods, tested out the interface, figured out his way of using abilities
It only took an hour or so for him to finally get to the edge of the city, of which he still knew not the name of, but upon finally reaching the outskirts a wide plain stretched ahead of him. In the distance, he could visibly see the treeline of a massive forest; that, that was his destination. It looked quite far away but he was far from being winded from simply traveling. Perhaps he should inspect himself while traveling? After all he couldn't see exactly what he was wearing, or what he had access to as weapons. Reaching out and motioning to open a menu, nothing seemed to happen. 'Strange,' he thought to himself before trying again, but this time thinking about what should appear. Ding, the sound of his interface popped into his vision.
Delar, a Spellblade classed character. That put the nail in the coffin; he certainly was playing the character he built. A health bar and mana bar was visible, both at 100% which was obvious as he hadn't been harmed or used any abilities but when he checked his status he saw his subclasses. Berserker and Blacksmith; both level 1. "I will need to rank these up soon, won't I?" He spoke aloud while still walking to his destination. What about abilities? He didn't fully remember exactly what he had picked but surely these would be useful to know. Terral Tuner, Sharp Impulse, Overcharge, Reserves... all of these skills seemed perfectly fine but how to use them he knew not. At the bottom of his interface, he saw a few buttons that he felt like he could tap to activate; perhaps it would be best to try this out?
Terral Tuner; the moment he thought of the ability his body began moving without his volition. Pulling a massive two-handed sword off of his back, he held it to the side and rushed forward with a wide slice as he traveled, leaving behind a verdant green trail where he struck. As he did so, he watched his mana tank; about ten percent at least. So that's how that works, huh? He didn't even get to hit the button before his body moved on its own. It felt powerful, using the ability like that; all he needed to do was practice and practice. Strangely, such a large sword felt both light and heavy in his hands at the same time. It was obvious he wasn't too good with using such a weapon as he did more heavy lifting in the real world, it weighed way less than he was expecting a longsword to weigh. Swinging it around a few times he paused, pointed straight forward while peering down the blade. Oh, this makes it so much better; I will have to do this when I eventually challenge someone to a duel. Ending with a stumbling sheath, he grimaced. It took more than fifteen seconds just to successfully sheath his sword... he would certainly need to fix that later through hard-earned practice.
By the time he was finally at his destination, his mana had fully recovered; "good," he muttered to himself quietly, "at least I don't need to rest completely to get my mana back." The forest ahead appeared thick and was most likely far massive than any forest he had ever seen in the real world. It looked like the perfect place to hunt wildlife, and just as soon as he thought so, a few animals bounded away from the edge of the forest, heading deeper. 'Perfect,' he thought, 'just the place I was looking for.' Pulling his sword out of its sheath, he stepped into the forest prepared to kill something.

Notes:Found his prey, battle is ensuing. He's enjoying himself maybe a bit much. He might need to learn how to dodge.
It seemed as though most of the wildlife in the area was docile, or rather, kept away from the large man as it took several minutes of wandering to find anything of worth. The scent of burning wood lead him to a small clearing with a few small tents jutting from trees with four small brown humanoid creatures sitting around a small campfire roasting what appeared to be a large bird-like creature. Strange, he thought to himself, that's a rather small meal for four creatures. Perhaps this is just part of the design. With a sadistic grin spreading across his face, he stepped into the clearing, brandishing his sword and pointing it at the creatures.
Four twisted expressions came from the brown monsters; goblins, if they were green he would have noticed from the start but these ones were a dark brownish color. Perhaps this was due to the region? That didn't matter, goblins are vermin and have always been vermin, and Delar was an exterminator. A glint formed in his eye as he grabbed his sword in two hands and approached the goblins. A few of them looked scared at the giant man who appeared to have no fear approaching them, before scrambling to their feet. Two of them had daggers, one had a club and the final one had some form of axe. None of them had what looked like any defensive weapons; good, good, that made them easy pickings. Grinning like a madman, he finally entered within range and swung at the two nearest goblins.
The first goblin jumped out of the way; it knew what was about to happen but his friend thought that his other friend was about to get chopped. Funnily, they didn't seem to really care about if the other died or not as the blade chopped halfway into the goblin's chest. Quickly pulling the blade out of the creature his eyes were filled with surprise seeing it coated in crimson as the other goblin fell back, grasping at himself in pain. "Hah... gross... I felt his bones." The other goblins seemed panicked but far more angry at the comment as a knife found it's way lodged into Delar's side. Pulling back, the blade slipped out of his armor easily but the pain; oh the pain soared through his body. As his body moved, the axe of the other goblin flew forward but seemed to bounce off of his armor; at least it was doing its job.
Taking a few steps back he grabbed at his side. Damn, that was painful; it reminded him of the time his face nearly got chopped in half. His health was now at 80%; it seemed as though it was either a direct hit... or a critical one. Laughing aloud he stabbed the tip of his sword into the ground. "Ahahaha! I've never felt so alive!" Just as he finished his sentence, the goblin with the club rushed forward, aiming a swing at the man as he activated the skill he saw earlier, Overcharge. With his blade glowing with sickening black energy, his body lunged forward against his well, dragging pieces of the ground with it as he moved into position. Again, the sickening sound of slicing flesh could be heard as a large thud followed; both struck each other at the same time. A quick small explosion sent the goblin reeling back to his friends, while the impact of the club did the same to Delar himself.
His health dropped again, this time at 65%. If he was lighter armored he could imagine that these hits could have brought him much closer to death. The goblin he cleaved into earlier seemed to be recuperating as he stood to face him again and the other goblin with a knife was lifting the club goblin off the ground so he could stand. Well, this was certainly getting interesting.
Notes:Day 1 thread. He's figured out how to use abilities, but doesn't really know how his class works yet. He was able to kill them though, but r i p whatever food he had in his stomach (nothing. It couldn't have been pleasant.)
The group of goblins seemed to scatter around; one might think this was a battle formation but none of them knew just how to do such a thing. Just as they ran back they seemed to run back in; was this trying to confuse him? His body swung forward once more, clipping the chest of a goblin as they tried to get in range to strike him again. A small glancing blow on the goblin with the club seemed to take him out; was that really it? The goblin could only handle that many hits? These things were weak.
"Pitiful!" He announced with a wide grin on his face. Holding the sword to his side once more, he prepared to swing at the next goblin brave enough to step in range. Just his action of holding the sword to his side seemed to cause them to hesitate as one of their own was now unconscious. "Cowardly creatures the lot of you!" As if they could actually understand what he was saying, a few of the began chittering and yelling back at him in a strange language he had never heard before.
"Just die then!" He shouted again as he took a step forward, swinging his blade to from right to left. The axe goblin jumped in the way, trying to block the strike with his small frame and even smaller weapon. There was one thing that inexperience did not need to help with, and that was raw power into a swing. Having charged the attack for three full seconds, his swing collided with the axe of the goblin, knocking it aside and slamming into its side. Such a blow would have gotten it stuck, but he had an idea. What if he activated the other ability he had?
Focusing on Sharp Impulse, his body moved for him, pulling back his arm. His mind flashed over Overcharge for a moment as the axe goblin recoiled from the previous blow and two more knives slammed into his armor. It seems the Goblins failed to actually penetrate his armor, but his health still dropped from the blows. 60%... 55%... 50%... he watched his health bar slowly drop from both hits, ending at 48% as a strange icon popped next to his health bar. A surge of adrenaline-filled his veins as it did; he felt amazing! This was nothing he had ever felt before! Sharp Impulse let loose, causing him to launch past all three remaining goblins, his arms swinging his sword across each goblin as he came across them. Right swing, left swing, right swing; his arms were a blur before he ended with his back facing them.
Then it hit, the sickening sound of three simultaneous strikes came from behind him as one the axe-wielding goblin collapsed, leaving behind two goblins with knives, one far more wounded than the other. Each with large gashes over their fronts, both mirrored of the other they looked at each other, and dropped their daggers in fear, turning away and preparing to run.
"As if I would let you!" Turning around, he called up Terral Tuner; his final ability that was off cooldown at the time. Darting three meters forward, his blade glowed with a bright green fervor as the physical attack icon vanished from his status screen. Both goblins were severely wounded from before, and this slash was about to make it even worse. With a wide swing, both goblins were cleaved completely in two, their final cries ending abruptly as their bodies separated and fell to the ground.
Such a sickening sight. His blade was covered in gore, and his armor was no different. Just as combat ended with his victory, his mind focused on what just happened as he fell forward and began heaving. He had never killed like this before, and it was so realistic! It was... disgusting. The smell of blood filled the air; he'd have to get used to this huh? Using the cleanest part of his sleeve he wiped off any saliva leftover on his face as he stood tall, holding his side.
He wasn't bleeding anymore, but the hole from the wound was still there. It was strange, for his wounds to stop bleeding so soon. He remembered in the real world when he was injured he would bleed constantly, but in here it looks like he only bled for a very short period of time after he took the hit. 48% health... that was quite low. Perhaps he would sit around and heal? Well, he was certainly in a great place to rest amongst the bodies of his foes... yeah, that's it.
Notes:Day 1 thread. Escaped from the slime, but didn't get to loot the corpses. End of post, Delar is unconscious. Next post starts when he wakes.
Leaning against a tree in the clearing, he watched the flames flicker in the campfire. It was soothing... very soothing minus the bodies of the goblins strewn across the field. Closing his eyes he opted to listen to fire crackling and the world around him. Several minutes passed by before he opened his eyes again, noting that his health bar had increased just barely, but his mana par was almost full.
"Ugh... regeneration is so slow in this world, huh?" His health had barely grown over 50% and he started feeling the fatigue from the last fight. Certainly, he had a body that could last longer than that, right? It was far easier to swing the sword around than it was to just lift and carry steel beams from one place to another. Right, this wasn't his body; he didn't have the constitution of several years of construction to back him. He didn't even know what this body was used to. For all Artyom knew, was that this body sat at home for weeks on end writing books for fun.
"Gurgle gurgle." The sound of a strange squishy substance gurgled in the distance. A single ball in the center of a large blue amorphous mass slowly rolled into the clearing. A slime? Now of all times? Weren't those things supposed to be passive? As if answering his question, it rolled over to one of the dead goblins and its skin started to blacken, but as soon as it covered it fully, the gem flashed a bright red; no sooner it had abandoned its meal and started rushing at Delar.
Rushing to his feet, he drew his blade and swung it down onto the slime, which merely congealed around it. What!? That's not right! Just as he struck it the slime wrapped around his foot as he felt a tingling pain; and his health bar dropped down to 40%. That same buff showed up in his screen again, but if he fought this thing now he would certainly die.
"Damn it! Get off of me!" He shook his leg and pulled from the slime; his body seemed to not respond right away as he had lost some feeling. "Ugh..." Falling over to the side from the force he lifted his leg, he scrambled away from the slime. Sooner than that, he had regained his balance and was sprinting through the forest. Each step shot numbing spikes through his body telling him his leg was injured; with each step on his left foot, he slowed down a small bit, only to accelerate again as soon as his right foot landed.
It was hard running with a numbing limp, but soon enough he had made it out of sight range of the slime. He didn't even have time to loot the goblins he had just massacred. Just what was this world? Gasping for breath, he fell down next to another tree looking for some way to recover.
"Gurgle gurgle." Not again. He didn't even wait to see the slime, he just got up and sprinted again. It didn't matter if he was out of breath; he needed to get as far as he could from that creature. Another several minutes had passed; his stamina was spent and the slime was hopefully far too far. If only he could finally rest. Collapsing again in a fit of heavy breaths, his eyes closed.
Welcome to the help dialog for the Custom Mini-Profile Creator plugin!
Click on any of the tabs above to go through the plugin configuration process!
You can access this menu at any time by clicking on the icon in the bottom right bar (may not be applicable if you're on Forums.net), or you can disable the welcome window and/or the icon by going to Plugins > Manage > Custom Mini-Profile Creator and changing the Show Help option.
This step is essential as it gives the plugin everything it needs on the page to get as much profile information as possible.
To make the profile variables work you'll need to add a new line to the very end of Themes > Layout Templates > Mini-Profile and paste the code below on it. The code should be placed completely outside of the mini-profile, so if you're using the default mini-profile template this will be after the very last closing </div> tag. This needs to be done on every theme you have the plugin enabled on as the template is theme-specific.
If your mini-profile template is already customized and you've hit the variable limit for your template you're free to remove any lines from the code below if they contain information that you don't plan on using. For example, if you have no plans to ever add a user's IP to their mini-profile for staff reference you can remove <div class="mp-info ip">$[user.ip]</div> from the code and everything else will still work just fine.
Once you've added the HTML from the Layout Templates tab you're ready to move on to building your mini-profiles. If you want to get going and try some out now or you're not very adept at HTML, CSS, or Javascript, worry not! This plugin includes some examples for you to try out. You're free to skip to the Custom Profile Fields tab and read over this tab later when you're ready to build your own.
Here's a quick rundown of each of the components in Plugins > Manage > Custom Mini-Profile Creator:
Name This is the name you'll be adding to your custom profile field dropdown once you've finished coding the mini-profile. Pretty self-explanatory. Make sure this name is unique from every other name you use for your mini-profiles or you'll end up overwriting the earlier ones in the list.
HTML This is the HTML that will go inside your mini-profile. You can use just about any HTML tag here so long as it's appropriate for where the mini-profile is showing on the page. Please refrain from using <style> or <script> tags here. You have the next two sections for that! Also, remember that mini-profiles can show multiple times on the same page, so you shouldn't add ID attributes to any of your elements here. Two elements on the same page cannot have the same ID per HTML standards.
CSS This is where you'll place what would normally go in your forum's style sheet or what would normally be between <style> tags. Try to code your mini-profile's HTML in a way that will allow you to target it specifically with your selectors. For example, you can surround all of the content in your HTML with a <div> element with a class and target that class and its child elements specifically with your CSS. That way you don't accidentally target every mini-profile on the page with CSS that was meant for the one you're building. One more thing: The forum theme's CSS still applies beforehand, so your mini-profile may look right in one theme but not in another. The best way to circumvent this is to define as many styles as you can to override the theme's CSS.
Javascript Anything that normally goes between <script> tags will go here. This one's a bit tricky since you'll obviously want to target the custom mini-profile specifically. Luckily there's an easy way to do that. In your statements you can use the $(this) variable to target the mini-profile if you're coding using jQuery. Otherwise, if you only plan on using standard Javascript you can target $(this)[0] instead.
Once you've finished building your mini-profiles it's finally time to add them to the Edit Profile page for use! To enable selection of custom mini-profiles you'll first need to add two specific custom profile fields in Members > Custom Profile Fields in your forum's admin area:
Mini-Profile Theme
Staff Mini-Profile Theme
Mini-Profile Theme is for mini-profiles that are designed for member use. You can set the Who Can Edit option for this field to Staff With Power if you only want staff to be able to choose mini-profiles for users. Otherwise, if you want members to freely be able to choose their own mini-profiles you can choose Members and Staff With Power.
Staff Mini-Profile Theme is for mini-profiles designed specifically for staff use. This field is completely optional.
Set the type for both of these fields as Drop Down Selection. Click on the (View/Edit) link to add mini-profile names to each of these fields.
If you've just installed this plugin you should have three different mini-profiles already installed by default: Example 1, Example 2, and Example 3. You can add these to your dropdowns to test them out and see the plugin in action.
If you're having trouble getting this plugin to work despite following the instructions in the previous tabs you may want to check that each of your themes meets the prerequisites below in Themes > Layout Templates > Mini-Profile.
First, ensure that opening tag of your mini-profile template includes the $[miniprofile_class] variable in its class. On the default ProBoards theme it should look something like this:
<div class="$[miniprofile_class]">
Next, make sure that the default {foreach} loop for custom fields is present inside your mini-profile. It doesn't need to be visible, so you're free to add it inside a hidden element if you don't plan on displaying it or if it would mess up the appearance of your own custom template.
Beyond that you can do whatever you like to the mini-profile template for the most part and it shouldn't negatively impact the plugin.
The following is a list of available variables for use in the HTML section of the mini-profile creator and their definitions. Adding any of these to a mini-profile will generate the content described in its definition in place of the variable so long as the information that variable outputs is visible to you.
To reference your forum's custom profile fields you can use $[user.customfieldname], substituting "customfieldname" with your custom field's name. You'll need to type the name in all lowercase with no spaces and only use characters A-Z and 0-9.
For example, Mini-Profile Theme becomes $[user.miniprofiletheme]. This will output the value of the custom field. In the case of this example, it'll be the name of the mini-profile theme you've chosen in your profile.
IMPORTANT NOTE: These will only work if you followed the steps in the Installation tab of this window on each of your themes. Any themes that do not include the template code specified there will not have these variables replaced in the mini-profile.

You can utilize the $(this) variable in the Javascript component to target the mini-profile <div> element. For example, if you wanted to add a class to the mini-profile you can use:
$(this).addClass('class-name-here');
Profile variables can also be used in the Javascript component in this plugin. In Javascript the value undefined is used to signify that a value doesn't exist for the variable you've specified. With this in mind you can use profile variables in Javascript conditional statements within the plugin similar to how they're used in the actual layout templates section of the admin area.
if(variable) will only run if the variable you specify has a value.
if(!variable) will only run if the variable you specify has no value.
Example 1 (variable has value):
if(user.group){
$(this).find('.group').show();
}
If the user has their group displayed in their profile the above Javascript would make the HTML below visible if you had it hidden with CSS.
