Gaia Reborn
Gaia Reborn, the hottest MMORPG of the last decade, has seen millions of players experience its unique world - a combination of fantasy and reality. When Gaia Reborn was a game, one goal was to make the game world a one-half scale model of the real world. This pursuit was known as the Half-Gaia Project, and it is one of the aspects which led to Gaia Reborn becoming such a popular virtual world. With regional servers having unique areas, quests, cities, and monsters, it wasn't uncommon for people to create alternate characters on other servers to experience what felt like an entirely new game.
Ten years after the game's launch, millions of players have joined and created countless characters across the many servers. Now, with the release of the latest expansion, Pioneers of Arcadia, many are getting ready to begin new adventures in the new Italian server, exploring the new region corresponding to Italy, known in Gaia as Italia. Characters would have to start from fresh in this new world, but Italy would finally get its own piece of this world.
Countless players created their characters, logged in with excitement fueling their hands as the cursor swept across the screen, and then... darkness... Everything was black, and as their eyes opened, the players found themselves in the streets of an unfamiliar city. Looking around to survey their surroundings, many players realized this city was not so new after all. While desolate and ruined, the architecture conquered by vines and greenery, this city was unmistakably Rome, but at the same time, it was not. Finding themselves in the bodies of their characters, trapped in the world of Gaia Reborn, players are left to adapt to their new reality in this fantasy world.
A new world's hardships and an adventurer's resolve
The Ciminian Forest. An expansive land of large trees and active wildlife. While typically Dumah would be overcome with joy at the idea of being able to explore such a mysterious and unknown world with no fear of death, he could not get his mind off of the intense exhaustion wracked upon him by the beaming rays of the afternoon sun high above the land. "Damn this race... Why did I think it would be a good idea to choose a race like the Nozgor...?" The Duelist's body swayed in the scalding heat of summer, having no other choice but to use his sheathed sword as a cane to keep himself upright. Where was he going? He had no idea, and unfortunately that lack of a goal was what made this exhaustive adventure into the forest all the more difficult. "I cannot believe I... underestimated the sun..." Dumah's free hand rose up shakily, grasping at his face in disappointment. "I need to stop letting my wanderlust get the better of me... I am no longer a normal human, but I am now a nozgor..." He stopped for a moment, staring up at the sun and shielding his eyes from the painful solar rays with his left hand. "But still... To think the developers would force such a devastating condition upon an entire race..." The obsidian-haired fledgling vampire could feel his legs give out, his body falling to its knees and his hands clenching tightly to the grip of his blade, the tip of the scabbard digging its way into the earth, forming a stab wound of only a few centimeters in the dirt as Dumah caught himself before his body could collapse entirely. "I need to find somewhere I can recover and wait for night to fall..." Forcing himself to his feet with the assistance of his sword's solid scabbard, Dumah continued to wander aimlessly, though now with a goal in mind: To find a dark area he in which he can avoid the sun and its debilitating effects upon the nozgor.
"I cannot handle being out in the sun... Duly noted... I will have to keep that in mind for any future adventures..." With each step, the Duelist could feel himself slowing down, his body growing heavier. "If my slow speed is slowing me down..." Dumah braced his body to stand solid without the strength of his sword to support him. Letting go of the blade, it dropped from his hand and vanished into his digital inventory before it even touched the ground. "Three... Two... One...!" With the last of his energy, Dumah kicked his feet off the ground, one after the other, breaking into a crooked run. He staggered and swayed with each step, but it managed to get him moving, and inertia kept his body pushing forward. However, after about ten meters... "I... cannot... sto-whoa!!" His feet got tangled up over one another, causing the man to trip and fall, landing against a thick tree standing firmly in the ground, barely shaking with the impact of an adult male adventurer. The man groaned, his body lying upside-down against the roots of the tree. "This is not going to end well, I can already tell..." He forced himself to stand, patting down his sleeves and tunic to clear it of the dust and dirt that had corrupted its initial cleanliness, a notable feature of the surrounding area catching his interest. "...There are quite a few stones scattered around..." He noticed several rocks and larger stones covering the area, far more than he had seen in other area of the forest, and upon further inspection he realized nearby was a mountain that had been shrouded by the bodies of the trees and the thick leaves obscuring his view above. Most importantly however was not merely the fact that there was such a large mountain, but that within sight was a gaping maw leading into the natural stone structure, and thus... "Shelter!" Dumah felt himself reinvigorated by the discovery of a cave that would serve well as a shelter to shield himself from the sun and recover from the exhaustion he felt himself under from the effects of his newfound weakness to the light. Dashing for the shadows, the man nearly collapsed in relief as he retreated to several meters into the cave, falling to his hands and knees and breathing heavily as though he had just reached land after swimming across the ocean for days. "Finally... Darkness... I can feel my strength returning..." Dumah paused, looking around himself to survey his surroundings. "...Thank goodness nobody heard that..."

It wasn't that long that Lufasu's world changed from the deepest roots to the very tip. Torn out of her own reality and thrown into a new world, world which she didn't understand or know. Torn away from everything she had, forced to start anew inside a body that she created for fun. A slight sigh that slipped out as the electrum haired woman looked up to the sky, the forrest breeze playing with her long hair and her jet-black wings, letting it flutter around her. She was walking through a forrest unspoiled by civilization, something so rare in the world she was from. But she was in that world no longer, thrown into a new one. In this world a forrest like this was a common sight, humanity forced into its settlements and ruins, the areas it inhabited far too dangerous to wander through freely. Yet there she was, wandering among the trees, trying to explore and gain some insight on this world she found herself in.
Slowly she bent over, picking up a herb from the ground, letting the plant she claimed dissolve and disappear into her inventory. Materials... Knowledge... Experience... What she knew, could do, had... None of that mattered and she had to do everything anew. Of course, she could just do some daily quests for a penny or two in the city of Romalia... But what life would that be? She would be stuck in place... Surviving. But she was the type of person which wanted to live a full life. And so she found herself here, wandering through a forrest with the ocassional monster, picking up herbs in a way which felt almost ancient to her.
"Hmm... Seems to be afternoon... I am quite far from Romalia too... I should find some place to rest for a while..." The girl muttered to herself as she continued to walk, the trim of her novice robe catching dead leaves and forrest mess onto itself, showing just how long she must have been walking through that forest. But surprisingly enough, she didn't feel all that tired, even despite the afternoon sun which she used to hate in the world before. In fact, the warmth almost felt pleasant to her as it touched her wings. One of her hands slipped up after a particularly strong gust of wind, keeping the few electrum locks which slipped into her face away while her garnet, crystal-like irises stared into the distance. Without a doubt, what she saw in front of her most definitely was some kind of a hill or a cliff with what looked like a cave entrance sitting in its side like a gaping, open wound. Curiously, cautiously, Lufasu walked closer. Yet... It didn't seem she was alone. She heard, quite clearly, male voice from within the cave, slowly approaching, walking just outside of the entrance while she watched the man dash inside and collapsing down onto his hands and knees, panting and wheezing like a fat marathon runner, talking to himself while looking around himself.
"...Thank goodness nobody heard that..."
That single line sparked a smirk on Lufasu's face, but thanks to a bit of efford, she prevented herself from chuckling aloud. After all, it sounded as if the man brought a flag upon himself. And it seemed, since she was here, that Murphy's law was particularly active on this day. "Ara, ara. Well, this one is Afraid that the goddess of luck didn't watch over you today. Because I most certainly heard you." Lufasu's melodic voice said in a humoured, somewhat haughty sounding tone, the tone which she just couldn't get rid of ever since she appeared in this world. "Are you okay? You look as if you could use a hand... or a glass of water." Lufasu added after that with a slight smile, walking over him, the combination of her beautiful face, long hair, perfectly shaped form and the jet-black wings on her back making her look like some kind of mythical figure out of legends, or perhaps even a goddess, standing above him, iluminated by the light from outside of the cave while one of her hands moved forwards, offering the man a helping hand. "Can you stand?"
No matter if he would accept her help or not, she wold take a look around afterwards, her own eyes glancing over her surroundings. "I need to say, I didn't expect to find a cave today. Or a Nozgor in the middle of a sunny day. Perhaps fortuna smiled on me today and decided to sate my curiosity and entertain me? Do tell me, how did you get there? I thought children of the night couldn't stand long trips acros the glow of the day star." Lufasu added, one hand slipping over to her mouth, under her lips, soft chuckle slipping out. After all, she couldn't help but do that. After all, it seemed that this day would be rather entertaining.

Feeling his energy returning to him, Dumah pushed himself up to his feet, finally able to get the first stable foothold he had in the past two hours. With his feet planted firmly on the stone ground, the vampiric Duelist prepared to walk further into the cave, noticing it extended rather deep into the mountain. However, taking a single step, he was stopped by a woman's voice behind him, the haughty, mocking tone of the woman alerting him to the fact that while Dumah had hoped that nobody had heard him utter his unusually dramatic line, the embarrassing statement of relief had actually penetrated the ears of this unexpected company. Turning his body quickly and reaching his left hand to the side of his hip, his right hand shooting to just above it, a sheathed short sword materialized into existence in Dumah's hand, the blade sliding out of its wooden scabbard quite smoothly as he held it out toward the woman. Having never seen a black-winged enoch before, his first reaction was that this must be an enemy of some sort, such as perhaps a fallen angel or a succubus. Though, for a succubus, she was quite modestly clothed, and her wings bore an angelic design as opposed to what would typically be more demonic, with fewer feathers and more sharp points and flesh. Perhaps it was a design choice meant to deceive an adventurer into falling for the beast's lies and honeyed words. However, upon noticing her lack of a reaction to the man brandishing his blade, he ruled her as simply an adventurer who had found some cosmetic item allowing her to change the color of her wings. It was strange, really, these two seemed to both be likely targets for being misunderstood: An enoch with a satanic charred color to her holy wings, and a creature of the night with aspirations of heroism. After choosing to take the gamble that she was not an enemy, Dumah's hesitation was returned with hospitality, confirming his suspicions. "Are you okay? You look as if you could use a hand... or a glass of water." The woman's lips curved upward into a smile as she approached, walking toward Dumah with a divine air about her.
Dumah shook his head, holding up his hand in respectful rejection of her offer. "No, thank you. I will be alright." He smiled softly in response to the woman's offer of assistance, as well as finding her own smile somewhat contagious. "My name is Dumah, I am a Duelist, though I consider my build to be that of a Spellsword." With a humble bow, Dumah introduced himself quite formally.
With the introductions out of the way, the woman scanned the surrounding area, taking in all of the cave that she could see with her own eyes before speaking on the matter at hand. "I need to say, I didn't expect to find a cave today. Or a Nozgor in the middle of a sunny day. Perhaps fortuna smiled on me today and decided to sate my curiosity and entertain me? Do tell me, how did you get there? I thought children of the night couldn't stand long trips across the glow of the day star."
The woman spoke with a rather unusually formal and eloquent tone, one that, for some reason, put Dumah slightly on edge. He could not help but feel that perhaps she was a Person of The Land masquerading as an Adventurer. It seemed as though she certainly had the noble air of one, yet she did not seem to have the rather rude arrogance and sense of superiority that Dumah had found to be a common trait amongst the enochlian People of The Land. While a typical Person of The Land of enochlian heritage would likely chide the black-haired beauty for believing he could go adventuring out in the blazing summer sun without any form of protection from the harsh daylight, this woman instead offered her assistance to him. Judging by her actions and the way she treated the man, Dumah could only assume she was an Adventurer, just the same as he was. Though, that did not help the fact that her fanciful speech was rather unusual. Perhaps it even made it worse, as he had come to expect such behavior from the enochlian People of The Land... "While Fortuna may shine her fortuitous light upon you, miss Amaryllis, it would seem that has come at the cost of her glow avoiding casting its light upon myself, and when luck is not in one's favor, they have only themselves to blame for foolish undertakings and wishes. As it would seem, such misfortune cast its shadow upon me and left me out of Fortuna's holy light." Dumah extended his hand, taking the woman's in his own and shaking it, bowing cordially. "Thank you for your offer of assistance, miss Amaryllis, but I believe I should be-" Just as he was making his claim that he would be alright on his own, a scratchy hiss was heard from the depths of the cave, a glob of white mass shooting past the Duelist and striking his scabbard, taking his sword with it as it stuck to the wall of the cave. Turning around quickly, he could see what had launched the attack. "Ciminian Arachnids!" Massive spiders, standing one meter in height, reaching over half of Dumah's size. Behind the spider came two more of its ilk, the beasts crawling out from the shadows and into the dim light of the sun as it leaked into the cave. "Can you fight?" Without hesitating or bothering to wait for an answer, Dumah's right shot to his side as he dashed toward the large beasts, a sword fading into existence in his hand as he swiped his blade across the first spider, delivering a cut to its body. Welcome to the help dialog for the Custom Mini-Profile Creator plugin!
Click on any of the tabs above to go through the plugin configuration process!
You can access this menu at any time by clicking on the icon in the bottom right bar (may not be applicable if you're on Forums.net), or you can disable the welcome window and/or the icon by going to Plugins > Manage > Custom Mini-Profile Creator and changing the Show Help option.
This step is essential as it gives the plugin everything it needs on the page to get as much profile information as possible.
To make the profile variables work you'll need to add a new line to the very end of Themes > Layout Templates > Mini-Profile and paste the code below on it. The code should be placed completely outside of the mini-profile, so if you're using the default mini-profile template this will be after the very last closing </div> tag. This needs to be done on every theme you have the plugin enabled on as the template is theme-specific.
If your mini-profile template is already customized and you've hit the variable limit for your template you're free to remove any lines from the code below if they contain information that you don't plan on using. For example, if you have no plans to ever add a user's IP to their mini-profile for staff reference you can remove <div class="mp-info ip">$[user.ip]</div> from the code and everything else will still work just fine.
Once you've added the HTML from the Layout Templates tab you're ready to move on to building your mini-profiles. If you want to get going and try some out now or you're not very adept at HTML, CSS, or Javascript, worry not! This plugin includes some examples for you to try out. You're free to skip to the Custom Profile Fields tab and read over this tab later when you're ready to build your own.
Here's a quick rundown of each of the components in Plugins > Manage > Custom Mini-Profile Creator:
Name This is the name you'll be adding to your custom profile field dropdown once you've finished coding the mini-profile. Pretty self-explanatory. Make sure this name is unique from every other name you use for your mini-profiles or you'll end up overwriting the earlier ones in the list.
HTML This is the HTML that will go inside your mini-profile. You can use just about any HTML tag here so long as it's appropriate for where the mini-profile is showing on the page. Please refrain from using <style> or <script> tags here. You have the next two sections for that! Also, remember that mini-profiles can show multiple times on the same page, so you shouldn't add ID attributes to any of your elements here. Two elements on the same page cannot have the same ID per HTML standards.
CSS This is where you'll place what would normally go in your forum's style sheet or what would normally be between <style> tags. Try to code your mini-profile's HTML in a way that will allow you to target it specifically with your selectors. For example, you can surround all of the content in your HTML with a <div> element with a class and target that class and its child elements specifically with your CSS. That way you don't accidentally target every mini-profile on the page with CSS that was meant for the one you're building. One more thing: The forum theme's CSS still applies beforehand, so your mini-profile may look right in one theme but not in another. The best way to circumvent this is to define as many styles as you can to override the theme's CSS.
Javascript Anything that normally goes between <script> tags will go here. This one's a bit tricky since you'll obviously want to target the custom mini-profile specifically. Luckily there's an easy way to do that. In your statements you can use the $(this) variable to target the mini-profile if you're coding using jQuery. Otherwise, if you only plan on using standard Javascript you can target $(this)[0] instead.
Once you've finished building your mini-profiles it's finally time to add them to the Edit Profile page for use! To enable selection of custom mini-profiles you'll first need to add two specific custom profile fields in Members > Custom Profile Fields in your forum's admin area:
Mini-Profile Theme
Staff Mini-Profile Theme
Mini-Profile Theme is for mini-profiles that are designed for member use. You can set the Who Can Edit option for this field to Staff With Power if you only want staff to be able to choose mini-profiles for users. Otherwise, if you want members to freely be able to choose their own mini-profiles you can choose Members and Staff With Power.
Staff Mini-Profile Theme is for mini-profiles designed specifically for staff use. This field is completely optional.
Set the type for both of these fields as Drop Down Selection. Click on the (View/Edit) link to add mini-profile names to each of these fields.
If you've just installed this plugin you should have three different mini-profiles already installed by default: Example 1, Example 2, and Example 3. You can add these to your dropdowns to test them out and see the plugin in action.
If you're having trouble getting this plugin to work despite following the instructions in the previous tabs you may want to check that each of your themes meets the prerequisites below in Themes > Layout Templates > Mini-Profile.
First, ensure that opening tag of your mini-profile template includes the $[miniprofile_class] variable in its class. On the default ProBoards theme it should look something like this:
<div class="$[miniprofile_class]">
Next, make sure that the default {foreach} loop for custom fields is present inside your mini-profile. It doesn't need to be visible, so you're free to add it inside a hidden element if you don't plan on displaying it or if it would mess up the appearance of your own custom template.
Beyond that you can do whatever you like to the mini-profile template for the most part and it shouldn't negatively impact the plugin.
The following is a list of available variables for use in the HTML section of the mini-profile creator and their definitions. Adding any of these to a mini-profile will generate the content described in its definition in place of the variable so long as the information that variable outputs is visible to you.
To reference your forum's custom profile fields you can use $[user.customfieldname], substituting "customfieldname" with your custom field's name. You'll need to type the name in all lowercase with no spaces and only use characters A-Z and 0-9.
For example, Mini-Profile Theme becomes $[user.miniprofiletheme]. This will output the value of the custom field. In the case of this example, it'll be the name of the mini-profile theme you've chosen in your profile.
IMPORTANT NOTE: These will only work if you followed the steps in the Installation tab of this window on each of your themes. Any themes that do not include the template code specified there will not have these variables replaced in the mini-profile.

You can utilize the $(this) variable in the Javascript component to target the mini-profile <div> element. For example, if you wanted to add a class to the mini-profile you can use:
$(this).addClass('class-name-here');
Profile variables can also be used in the Javascript component in this plugin. In Javascript the value undefined is used to signify that a value doesn't exist for the variable you've specified. With this in mind you can use profile variables in Javascript conditional statements within the plugin similar to how they're used in the actual layout templates section of the admin area.
if(variable) will only run if the variable you specify has a value.
if(!variable) will only run if the variable you specify has no value.
Example 1 (variable has value):
if(user.group){
$(this).find('.group').show();
}
If the user has their group displayed in their profile the above Javascript would make the HTML below visible if you had it hidden with CSS.
