- Character -Name: Cecilia
Gender: Female
Apparent Age: 27
Face Claim: Beryl; Original Character by Junkpuyo
Played By: winsome widowbird
Faction: Adventurer
- Appearance -Cecilia is a beautiful and seemingly young woman, standing at a height of 5’1”. Her body is naturally tubby, lending her a curvy frame that belies her strength as a gladiator. Her hair is shoulder-length, let loose into straight brunette locks. Her eyes are one of the unusual things about her, dark purple with a lighter ring within the irises. Cecilia is older than most in Gaia, and it shows in her mannerisms. She is a bit less energetic and exuberant, but has clear confidence in herself and is well aware of her beauty, her posture and gait reflecting this.
- Personality -Motherly, kind, patient, and always wearing a pleasant smile, Cecilia strikes the perfect image of a kindly mother who just wants to see others happy. She is experienced, having seen a lot of what the world has to offer, both good and bad. As such, she’s knowledgeable on a variety of topics, her empathetic nature belying the shrewdness she has honed as an investigative reporter. She is also incredibly charismatic and has succeeded more than a few times based on her silver tongue alone.
As a former reporter, Cecilia is naturally curious, and will often seek things out if she believes something is off or could lead to something interesting. As such, she has an uncanny ability to stick her nose into all sorts of trouble. One would think that such a woman would hate this sort of thing, and conflict in general. However, she is more than happy to teach wrongdoers a lesson, flexing her strength on them to protect the weak.
This wouldn’t be as relevant were it not for her determination and will bordering on the preternatural. It’s nigh-impossible to break her resolve, and once she has set out to do something, she
will accomplish it, come hell or high water. While this makes it hard to keep her down, it also makes her unreasonably stubborn. She will accomplish her goals even if the consequences are negative, refusing to back down even when all signs tell her she should.
She is a woman of focus, commitment, and sheer will.
Related to this, Cecilia is incredibly vengeful. While very forgiving of missteps and blunders, she does not extend the same kindness to those who acted maliciously in the past and will dedicate an inordinate amount of time to exacting her revenge on them. This is especially the case if they harm a loved one; one best expect her to be out for blood if that ever happens.
Cecilia is terribly afraid of losing those close to her. After the experience of having her family torn away from her abruptly, she never wants to experience something like that again and can come off as clingy and overprotective as a result. She is more than happy to “mother” them the same way she would her children.
- Biography -Cecilia’s early history isn’t terribly remarkable. She grew up in Glasgow to a low-income family, getting by through odd jobs and the occasional scholarship. Life was hard but simple, and she never once felt as if she was cornered or didn’t know what to do. She merely needed to study, get good grades, and marry a good man.
And marry a good man she did. She wed with a well-known detective who had it out for the worst of organised crime, making several successful arrests and making the city safer. It was dangerous, and he had a hit on him, but she loved him with all her heart. Eventually, they formed a happy family with three kids. Cecilia couldn’t be more satisfied with life.
But one day, disaster struck. Cecilia had fallen ill one day, so her husband took it upon himself to get their kids from school. However, on their way back, they were all murdered in a drive-by shooting. Cecilia’s world shattered then and there, and she fell into a severe depression for a few months.
That time reforged her, however. She emerged on the other side as a woman of insane focus, and her focus was on ensuring all those involved in the murder of her family never saw the light of day again. She studied day and night, gaining a scholarship to Cambridge University to study for investigative journalism. She passed everything with flying marks, and though not a natural genius, her complete commitment gave her all the motivation she needed.
The years flew by, and she came out of there with a prestigious degree. She rapidly took up positions and quickly became known as someone who was almost reckless in her pursuit of crime, gathering evidence in a risky manner and exposing all sorts of criminals for the world to see. The police dared not stay inactive for fear of scrutiny from more powerful organisations. Although not famous worldwide, Cecilia did become known in the United Kingdom and Western Europe as a determined and effective reporter who always sought the truth.
This didn’t heal the wounds dealt to her heart, however, and so she filled in her free time with all sorts of hobbies. One of these was gaming, and she had heard of this new MMO called Gaia Reborn. Curious, she would log in, creating a new character for the Italian server.
Little did she know, she was about to enter a whole new world.
The sudden change jarred her… but perhaps it was for the best. Cecilia had yearned for a fresh start, and this offered her exactly that, despite the circumstances of it all. Regardless of what happened, she would always have a goal in mind, and this place was no different.
Gaia was ripe for her ambitious self.
- Extra -- Cecilia was born in Scotland and has a noticeable accent.
- Cecilia still wears her wedding ring.

- Skills -- Class -- Beginner -Auto-AttackA skill that controls the user's body and allows them to automatically target a monster and attempt to perform a basic attack. Auto-attack will do a constant chain of basic attacks so that the total DPS is roughly the same as dealing minor damage once a second. For example, a heavy weapon will do slower but stronger attacks, while a player wielding two daggers will do faster, less damaging attacks.
Any skills or movements that the user may manually perform will take priority over this skill, but the system will generally try to aim for an accurate hit.
It was a staple among players in the original Gaia Reborn game, but since the Apocalypse, its use has taken a drastic drop. Manual basic attacks allow for much more fluid and precise control of attacks, and as such, the skill has barely been used by Adventurers since then. It does, however, allow for people who are not proficient with their weapon of choice to be able to reliably hit their target.
Passively, the player can also delay their next attack to increase the basic attack’s power by performing what’s known as an “empowered attack”. Each second used to charge an attack increases the damage dealt by 20%, up to a maximum of 100% at 5 seconds.
Toggle, No cooldown. No cost.Roads to RomaliaA skill that can be found prominently on the player’s interface. Roads to Romalia allows a player to teleport back to Romalia from any city or town with a cathedral. Activating it causes the user to channel for five seconds, restricting them from doing anything until this cast time is done. If they choose to make any other action or are hit by an attack, Roads to Romalia is interrupted and put on a 1 minute cooldown. Because teleporting in this way to one’s home city essentially breaks them down into raw energy, it is extremely taxing to players after the Apocalypse, and repeated use in a short span can inflict mental and physical strains.
5s cast time, No cooldown. No cost.Interface ControlEven after the Apocalypse, players have kept the ability to use their interfaces. When mentally called upon, the interface hovers slightly in front of them, visible only to themselves and is slightly transparent. It can be interacted with by touch of the fingertips or mentally. The interface allows players to access their party list, friend list, guild settings, crafting list and many other menus. Friend invites can only be sent in a face-to-face meeting, and the same goes for party invites. However, a friend can be added to a party regardless of where they are. Additionally, an Adventurer can talk to friends or party members through telepathy, by pressing one finger to their ear after dialling them. This causes words said to be spoken into their mind rather than out loud.
Passive.Perfectus FormaGladiators strive for perfection, and power up while they perform flawlessly. After every successful skill that inflicts damage, they gain a stack of Forma, which grants a minor Attack Up, and stacks up to a maximum of 7 stacks. The moment they miss a Skill or are interrupted in their animation or cast time, all stacks of Forma are removed. Forma stacks are reset to 0 after combat ends. Basic attacks benefit from Forma, but missing them does not reset the stacks.
Passive skill.Ars IngensThe Gladiator’s fluid, powerful motions power up further skills with residue energy from the previous skills.
Using an Unus skill grants the Gladiator
Unus: Paratus, which charges them with the Unus skill’s effect.
Using a Duo skill while having Unus: Paratus grants the Gladiator
Duo: Paratus, which charges them with the Duo skill’s effect.
Using a Tres skill consumes Unus: Paratus and Duo: Paratus to power them up.
Using an Unus or Duo skill while already having a buff overrides it.
Nihil skills won’t interrupt or interfere with any Paratus buffs, and are standalone skills.
Passive skill.Utilits DamnumThe Gladiator is a warrior of persistence and overcoming overwhelming obstacles, be it a monstrous beast or masses of fellow fighters. As such they are masters of pushing past their limits, at a cost to themselves. When a Gladiator completely drains their mana pool, they can continue to fight with great power, using their HP in place of mana to fulfill the mana cost requirement of Gladiator skills.
Passive Skill- Rank I -Heightened SensesAn alarm-type field skill that has seen more use since the Apocalypse, as travel is more dangerous than it used to be. After the cast, the user is granted the Alarmed buff for 8 hours. If an enemy of the Territorial, Aggressive or Predatory Type comes within 10m of the user, the Alarmed buff wears off and the user receives a loud notification sound and flash on the interface. Ever since the Apocalypse, this buff persists even through sleep and wakes the user up. Cooldown starts after Alarmed has worn off.
3s cast time, 1 hour cooldown. Low mana cost.Unus: AcheronThe Gladiator briefly pulls their weapon back with their hilt to the hips, then delivers a reckless thrust at insane speed, dealing above-average damage that fully penetrates Defense. The red shockwaves from this move somewhat resemble a river. This move is fast, so it’s difficult to dodge or predict, and has very high Accuracy. The recklessness strains the Gladiator.
Paratus: Your next Tres will Stagger.
0.3s animation time, 30s cooldown. Low mana cost, 2.5% current health cost.Duo: OrcusRushing 3m forward with their weapon out, the Gladiator phases through a single enemy. As they pass through, a flurry of slashes strike the enemy’s joint, dealing average damage and inflicting a strong 10s Paralyze.
Paratus: Your next Tres is treated as if having a strong Attack Up.
2s animation time, 1 min cooldown. Above-average mana cost.Tres: CerberusThe Gladiator sacrifices Health to coat their weapon in a red aura resembling Cerberus’ eyes as they deliver a powerful forward stab, sounding a bestial roar upon impact with an enemy. This fast melee attack inflicts strong damage and penetrates half of the enemy’s Defense. As it’s the lowest cooldown Tres skill, it is thus most commonly used to trigger one’s Paratus effects.
1s animation time, 40s cooldown. Average mana cost, 3% current health cost.- Rank II -- Rank III -- Racial & Talents -Human PotentialThough many might consider the lack of specialization in the stats of a human a curse, attributing them to a jack of all trade and master of none, this ordinariness is the strength of the humans, granting them the power to forge their own path, specializing in what they choose, unhindered by their race.
Human characters start with 12 SP. Every 40 EXP, they receive an additional 1SP and 2AP.Iron StomachNot even food poisoning can stop a dedicated chef! This skill can be toggled, allowing chefs to become immune to status debuffs caused by drinks and food, such as Poison or Accuracy Down.
Toggle skill.
“Also prevents intoxication, which is the only real reason to ever toggle this skill off.”Loose EndsPassively, the Courtesan is able to pick up on any Lander’s mannerisms, subtleties and hints. When talking to Landers, they are also able to acquire much more information and keep up positive relationships easier.
