Gaia Reborn
Gaia Reborn, the hottest MMORPG of the last decade, has seen millions of players experience its unique world - a combination of fantasy and reality. When Gaia Reborn was a game, one goal was to make the game world a one-half scale model of the real world. This pursuit was known as the Half-Gaia Project, and it is one of the aspects which led to Gaia Reborn becoming such a popular virtual world. With regional servers having unique areas, quests, cities, and monsters, it wasn't uncommon for people to create alternate characters on other servers to experience what felt like an entirely new game.
Ten years after the game's launch, millions of players have joined and created countless characters across the many servers. Now, with the release of the latest expansion, Pioneers of Arcadia, many are getting ready to begin new adventures in the new Italian server, exploring the new region corresponding to Italy, known in Gaia as Italia. Characters would have to start from fresh in this new world, but Italy would finally get its own piece of this world.
Countless players created their characters, logged in with excitement fueling their hands as the cursor swept across the screen, and then... darkness... Everything was black, and as their eyes opened, the players found themselves in the streets of an unfamiliar city. Looking around to survey their surroundings, many players realized this city was not so new after all. While desolate and ruined, the architecture conquered by vines and greenery, this city was unmistakably Rome, but at the same time, it was not. Finding themselves in the bodies of their characters, trapped in the world of Gaia Reborn, players are left to adapt to their new reality in this fantasy world.
- Player - Name: Elliott Tereshchenko Gender: Male Age: 26 Sexuality: Gay
- Character - Name: Astaroth Gender: Male Apparent Age: 26 Face Claim: Appearance (Toyhou.se external link) Played By: Metanoia Faction: Adventurer
- Appearance -
As a human, he had shoulder-length dirty blond hair with a wide, guileless face whose most conspicuous feature was the long, crooked nose he'd inherited from his father. He was a whippet-thin 5'9'', and tended to shift his weight from one foot to the other while standing, as well as hide his mouth and nose with a hand in a nervous gesture when he was particularly happy or upset. These tics persisted into his avatar's form, but otherwise he was greatly changed.
He became taller and more muscular upon his transfer into the default Antas male body. Astaroth's face is painfully doll-like and symmetrical, though more youthful than the rest of his body suggests due to its softer shape. If it were not for his light beard and deep red eyes, he would look even younger. His ears are pointed but shorter than an Alv's. His skin, far from the ruddy Midwest tone from before, is a strange bluish gray with an almost metallic glow. His hair is a similar but lighter arctic stone shade, short and styled around his horns, which are heavily filigreed and antler-like. His features seem most suited for glowering on a magazine cover, but his open, honest expressions reflect the mild soul inside.
Overall, the effect is of a striking and powerful-looking demon, but it's almost instantly ruined by his unassuming physical demeanor and tall-guy slouch.
PERSONALITY
The few people who knew Emery well enough in his old life thought of him as an odd, if polite duck. Above all, he hated conflict and was always placating and accommodating, as harmony was more important to him than being right. He was gentle with everyone and everything, even inanimate objects, handling others with soft words and overly-careful touches as though they were fragile objects. He was also always willing to hear someone out, or lend a helping hand, even if the recipient of his offer had a bad reputation or had treated him unkindly in the past. This stubborn refusal to heed prior knowledge could be seen as him being emotionally-underdeveloped or just plain stupid. However, living with his sometimes-catatonic, occasionally suicidal mother made him extremely reluctant to leave things where they were, especially on a low note.
No one ever saw him truly excited or angry, a trait he'd learned from his mother to hold strong emotions inside until he was in private. This was not so much a defensive reaction out of shame as it was an extreme unwillingness to cause a scene and draw attention away from more important things. He was equally content whether pottering around at home or exploring the outdoors, having learned long ago how to keep himself amused while alone. Given his absent-minded nature and poor listening skills, this was probably for the best.
Emery's ability to make and keep friends wasn't great, as he tended to alienate people with his quiet awkwardness and almost-desperate willingness to let them go if he sensed the slightest dislike of him. He did become more talkative and friendly as he got older and more confident in his abilities, and his compassionate, attentive nature made him a natural caretaker.
None of this changed upon his initiation into Gaia Reborn, although anyone who knew him from before might notice that his smiles were a tad flatter and his voice a bit weaker from disuse.
His in-game modus operandi is more or less "Hulk Smash". He prefers one-on-one fighting at close range, dealing heavy, powerful blows to dispatch enemies as quickly as possible. This is so he can spend more time doing things that aren't fighting, like cooking or exploring. He doesn't understand how MMO raiding parties work and it shows in his gameplay.
Emery Antonovich Tereshchenko was born in Ufa, Russia in 1993 to a Russian father and British mother, both PhDs in the fields of archaeology and biology. His father died when he was six, and his heartbroken mother took her son back to her hometown in the UK shortly afterwards. When he was ten, they moved again, this time due to a promising job offer at a university first in California and then in Chicago, Illinois. All the moving around left young Emery without many friends and with a certain sense of ostracization from other children his age.
This isolated feeling persisted as he grew older, reinforced by his naturally shy and retiring personality. He spent a lot of time on his own growing up, as his mother buried herself in her work and left him mostly to his own devices in their lonely, if cozy apartment in Lincoln Park. Combined with his mother's distaste for the institution of public schooling, his was a rambling, partially self-taught education thanks to all the roaming around he did in their neighborhood on his frequent "sick days", and he learned many life skills from friendly neighbors who took pity on the mild, withdrawn boy with a strange accent. One such neighbor was an older gentleman named Patrick, whose deceased son had looked like Emery. They became fast friends, and would often go fishing in Lake Michigan together with his mom's blessing. Patrick's abrupt death when Emery was seventeen hit him hard, as the man was basically his adopted father by that point.
Come high school graduation, Emery suddenly found himself without any clear plan for his future. His difficult experiences with his depressed mother instilled an interest in psychology in him, but unlike his studious parents, he wasn't at all intrigued by the idea of at least four years of academic theory. He enrolled in college but quickly left after getting his associate's degree. Eventually he made his way to the position of medical assistant at a psychiatric facility, but he still felt as though he should be doing something else.
He would never describe himself as any kind of video game player. His hobbies tended toward quiet physical activities, and things he could create with his hands. Thus it was with a befuddled, hesitant manner that he started playing Gaia Reborn at the behest of a pushy friend-with-benefits. He chose the Antas race at random, not having any particular biases, and thought Spellblade sounded cool. It reminded him of the one DnD session he'd played with some kids in high school. He settled on the name 'Astaroth' after a memorable fallen angel character from his mother's eclectic collection of novels.
It wasn't going to be a long-term thing, he knew that for sure. He would humor his FNB, play for a few days, and then log out and probably forget about the game within a month.
Perhaps if he'd known what was about to happen he might've crafted his character with more care. But then again, perhaps not. He'd never played an MMO before, what did he know? After all, he wasn't much of a deep thinker, and would be the first to say so.
- Extra - Right-handed. Voice: Astaroth's voice is breathier and smoother than Emery's high baritone, but retains his slightly weird-sounding Midwestern American accent and warmth. Likes: Buying/hoarding junk, fishing, bluegrass, folk metal, exploring, bowling, cooking, playing with magic, silence, small cute things, The Muppets, Liam Neeson Dislikes: Thieves, competition, reading, electronics, his horns getting in the way of everything, arrogance, missing meals, bigotry, rabbits, Gaia Reborn

Magiphysicy The Spellblade weaves the martial arts of the weapon with the mystical arts of spells by balancing both. After every Spellblade-Unique magical or physical attack, the Spellblade is granted a Magical or Physical Charge respectively. This stacks up to 2 through ordinary skills. Using a Physical attack with Magical Charges consumes them all, and gives them a very minor damage boost per stack; and using a Magical attack with Physical Charges does likewise. Charges aren’t consumed when using Spellblade skills that don’t specify Magical or Physical. Passive skill.
Magiphysic Convertor The Spellblade instantly converts all their Magical Charges into 1 Physical charge, or vice-versa. Instant, 15s cooldown. No mana cost.
- Rank I -
Cocytus Stabilizer Magical. The Spellblade’s weapon glows blue as they push it to the ground. The Spellblade can target an enemy within 7 meters to make an icy pillar bursts out of the ground that skewers them for average magical Ice damage. Upon successfully hitting an enemy, the Spellblade receives a low Defense Up for 5s. 1.5s animation time, 12s cooldown. Below-average mana cost.
Vampire Pipet Physical. Stabbing forward, the Spellblade lodges their weapon inside an enemy of choice for average damage. A red glow then leaves the enemy through the Spellblade’s weapon, and their Health and Mana are healed for 50% of the damage they dealt. 1.5s animation time, 12s cooldown. Below-average mana cost.
Splashing Blow Fiercely strike downwards on the ground or an enemy. Upon impact, this will deal above-average damage to the target enemy, and a powerful ripple will travel up to 3m in all directions, spreading the damage to nearby enemies. This damage gradually drops off the further enemies are, up to only 1/5th of its original power at the furthest 3m. 2.5s animation time, 20s cooldown. High mana cost.
Flare Accelerator Magical. The Spellblade envelops their weapon in bright crimson flames and performs a 3-hit thrusting combo, each hit dealing minor magical Fire damage. For every thrust that connects, the Spellblade gains an extending 2s low Accuracy Up. 1.5s animation time, 12s cooldown. Below-average mana cost.

- Racial & Talents -
Martyrdom While often looked down upon by People of The Land of other races, the Antas strive to prove their altruism, even at their own sacrifice. Once every 30 minutes, if an Antas is caught in an AoE attack alongside allies, they can opt to spare them. Doing so causes the Antas to take the damage their allies took, but halved.
Iron Stomach Not even food poisoning can stop a dedicated chef! This skill can be toggled, allowing chefs to become immune to status debuffs caused by drinks and food, such as Poison or Accuracy Down. Toggle skill. “Also prevents intoxication, which is the only real reason to ever toggle this skill off.”
Wading As is befitting of one who spends so much time in and around water, the Fisherman experiences a smaller movement speed penalty from swimming or wading through water than the average player. Furthermore, they can hold their breath twice as long, and deal a minor amount more damage to Aquatic type monsters. This boosted lung capacity and increased mobility does not stack with the Pirate’s Mariner’s Fortitude. Passive skill.
- Equipment - Armor: Novice Brigandine Item level: 1 Equipment type: Medium Armor, Leather Effects: / Skills: / Description: A padded leather brigandine that is quite thick, but not protective. It helps against the impact of blunt or ranged attacks, but try not to get hit in the first place.
Both hands: Novice Longsword Item level: 1 Equipment type: Two-handed, Sword Effects: / Skills: / Description: A simple longsword wrought from iron. Its weight is poorly balanced, but the sword is heavy enough to deliver crushing blows.
Novice Spear Item level: 1 Equipment type: One-handed, Polearm Effects: / Skills: / Description: A pointy and sharp iron tip on a wooden pole. The spear offers a better range with its thrusting attacks than most other melee weapons and can be thrown for extra range.

Hi! This account is for administrative purposes only. If you want to RP with me, my main is Katarina.
Welcome to the help dialog for the Custom Mini-Profile Creator plugin!
Click on any of the tabs above to go through the plugin configuration process!
You can access this menu at any time by clicking on the icon in the bottom right bar (may not be applicable if you're on Forums.net), or you can disable the welcome window and/or the icon by going to Plugins > Manage > Custom Mini-Profile Creator and changing the Show Help option.
This step is essential as it gives the plugin everything it needs on the page to get as much profile information as possible.
To make the profile variables work you'll need to add a new line to the very end of Themes > Layout Templates > Mini-Profile and paste the code below on it. The code should be placed completely outside of the mini-profile, so if you're using the default mini-profile template this will be after the very last closing </div> tag. This needs to be done on every theme you have the plugin enabled on as the template is theme-specific.
If your mini-profile template is already customized and you've hit the variable limit for your template you're free to remove any lines from the code below if they contain information that you don't plan on using. For example, if you have no plans to ever add a user's IP to their mini-profile for staff reference you can remove <div class="mp-info ip">$[user.ip]</div> from the code and everything else will still work just fine.
Once you've added the HTML from the Layout Templates tab you're ready to move on to building your mini-profiles. If you want to get going and try some out now or you're not very adept at HTML, CSS, or Javascript, worry not! This plugin includes some examples for you to try out. You're free to skip to the Custom Profile Fields tab and read over this tab later when you're ready to build your own.
Here's a quick rundown of each of the components in Plugins > Manage > Custom Mini-Profile Creator:
Name This is the name you'll be adding to your custom profile field dropdown once you've finished coding the mini-profile. Pretty self-explanatory. Make sure this name is unique from every other name you use for your mini-profiles or you'll end up overwriting the earlier ones in the list.
HTML This is the HTML that will go inside your mini-profile. You can use just about any HTML tag here so long as it's appropriate for where the mini-profile is showing on the page. Please refrain from using <style> or <script> tags here. You have the next two sections for that! Also, remember that mini-profiles can show multiple times on the same page, so you shouldn't add ID attributes to any of your elements here. Two elements on the same page cannot have the same ID per HTML standards.
CSS This is where you'll place what would normally go in your forum's style sheet or what would normally be between <style> tags. Try to code your mini-profile's HTML in a way that will allow you to target it specifically with your selectors. For example, you can surround all of the content in your HTML with a <div> element with a class and target that class and its child elements specifically with your CSS. That way you don't accidentally target every mini-profile on the page with CSS that was meant for the one you're building. One more thing: The forum theme's CSS still applies beforehand, so your mini-profile may look right in one theme but not in another. The best way to circumvent this is to define as many styles as you can to override the theme's CSS.
Javascript Anything that normally goes between <script> tags will go here. This one's a bit tricky since you'll obviously want to target the custom mini-profile specifically. Luckily there's an easy way to do that. In your statements you can use the $(this) variable to target the mini-profile if you're coding using jQuery. Otherwise, if you only plan on using standard Javascript you can target $(this)[0] instead.
Once you've finished building your mini-profiles it's finally time to add them to the Edit Profile page for use! To enable selection of custom mini-profiles you'll first need to add two specific custom profile fields in Members > Custom Profile Fields in your forum's admin area:
Mini-Profile Theme
Staff Mini-Profile Theme
Mini-Profile Theme is for mini-profiles that are designed for member use. You can set the Who Can Edit option for this field to Staff With Power if you only want staff to be able to choose mini-profiles for users. Otherwise, if you want members to freely be able to choose their own mini-profiles you can choose Members and Staff With Power.
Staff Mini-Profile Theme is for mini-profiles designed specifically for staff use. This field is completely optional.
Set the type for both of these fields as Drop Down Selection. Click on the (View/Edit) link to add mini-profile names to each of these fields.
If you've just installed this plugin you should have three different mini-profiles already installed by default: Example 1, Example 2, and Example 3. You can add these to your dropdowns to test them out and see the plugin in action.
If you're having trouble getting this plugin to work despite following the instructions in the previous tabs you may want to check that each of your themes meets the prerequisites below in Themes > Layout Templates > Mini-Profile.
First, ensure that opening tag of your mini-profile template includes the $[miniprofile_class] variable in its class. On the default ProBoards theme it should look something like this:
<div class="$[miniprofile_class]">
Next, make sure that the default {foreach} loop for custom fields is present inside your mini-profile. It doesn't need to be visible, so you're free to add it inside a hidden element if you don't plan on displaying it or if it would mess up the appearance of your own custom template.
Beyond that you can do whatever you like to the mini-profile template for the most part and it shouldn't negatively impact the plugin.
The following is a list of available variables for use in the HTML section of the mini-profile creator and their definitions. Adding any of these to a mini-profile will generate the content described in its definition in place of the variable so long as the information that variable outputs is visible to you.
To reference your forum's custom profile fields you can use $[user.customfieldname], substituting "customfieldname" with your custom field's name. You'll need to type the name in all lowercase with no spaces and only use characters A-Z and 0-9.
For example, Mini-Profile Theme becomes $[user.miniprofiletheme]. This will output the value of the custom field. In the case of this example, it'll be the name of the mini-profile theme you've chosen in your profile.
IMPORTANT NOTE: These will only work if you followed the steps in the Installation tab of this window on each of your themes. Any themes that do not include the template code specified there will not have these variables replaced in the mini-profile.

You can utilize the $(this) variable in the Javascript component to target the mini-profile <div> element. For example, if you wanted to add a class to the mini-profile you can use:
$(this).addClass('class-name-here');
Profile variables can also be used in the Javascript component in this plugin. In Javascript the value undefined is used to signify that a value doesn't exist for the variable you've specified. With this in mind you can use profile variables in Javascript conditional statements within the plugin similar to how they're used in the actual layout templates section of the admin area.
if(variable) will only run if the variable you specify has a value.
if(!variable) will only run if the variable you specify has no value.
Example 1 (variable has value):
if(user.group){
$(this).find('.group').show();
}
If the user has their group displayed in their profile the above Javascript would make the HTML below visible if you had it hidden with CSS.
