Gaia Reborn
Gaia Reborn, the hottest MMORPG of the last decade, has seen millions of players experience its unique world - a combination of fantasy and reality. When Gaia Reborn was a game, one goal was to make the game world a one-half scale model of the real world. This pursuit was known as the Half-Gaia Project, and it is one of the aspects which led to Gaia Reborn becoming such a popular virtual world. With regional servers having unique areas, quests, cities, and monsters, it wasn't uncommon for people to create alternate characters on other servers to experience what felt like an entirely new game.
Ten years after the game's launch, millions of players have joined and created countless characters across the many servers. Now, with the release of the latest expansion, Pioneers of Arcadia, many are getting ready to begin new adventures in the new Italian server, exploring the new region corresponding to Italy, known in Gaia as Italia. Characters would have to start from fresh in this new world, but Italy would finally get its own piece of this world.
Countless players created their characters, logged in with excitement fueling their hands as the cursor swept across the screen, and then... darkness... Everything was black, and as their eyes opened, the players found themselves in the streets of an unfamiliar city. Looking around to survey their surroundings, many players realized this city was not so new after all. While desolate and ruined, the architecture conquered by vines and greenery, this city was unmistakably Rome, but at the same time, it was not. Finding themselves in the bodies of their characters, trapped in the world of Gaia Reborn, players are left to adapt to their new reality in this fantasy world.
"An Antashi rebellion, hm?", Johanna repeated slowly. She remembered reading about how the Antas were in some sort of diaspora and the victim of a lot of culturally ingrained hatred. However, she had sadly completely forgotten about the reasons. Some war maybe? This was even more intriguing than she had previously imagined. She was also a bit surprised. Mikey hadn’t struck her as a person so deeply involved with the game’s underlying lore. She had expected a story of a smaller scale. "Isn’t it even more dangerous to deal with the Pontificate than dealing with Adelbert? Interesting. I don’t regret coming with you."
After a while she had brought herself into a position as relaxing as it could be in the cargo area of a cart.
"So… is there anything you know about this rebellion? Are you a part of it yourself? This seems like an oddly dangerous lost cause for a simple robber to make deals with."
Unsure of whether Mikey would even answer her questions Johanna fell silent and waited. If one saw her in the eyes at this moment, they would see them sparkling into Mikey’s direction, although their target should not be mistaken with the man itself. The sparkle was directed right through him solely at what he could tell her about the rebellion. Tags: Mikey01 Word Count: 218 Total Word Count: 2788
Mikey took a moment to gather his thoughts and replied. "Yea. I'm a part of the rebellion. My gang of bandits is supplying arms and weapons to the Antas rebels or separatists.. And I do plan to join the fighting whenever that begins.."
"As for why I'm joining the fighting.. I'm doing it because it is dangerous. Because I want to test the abilities of Adventurers in warfare.. I've died and respawned a lot of times already. So the pain is less harder to bear. And I'm also probably not the only Adventurer joining the battle."
He whipped the horses driving the cart and continued. "And the reason for the rebellion? I assume it has something to do with the Antas rebels feeling angry or disgruntled about the subjugation of the Antas in the Pontificate. "
So the Antas were being subjugated in the Pontificate? And it was supported and supplied by an adventurer trying to test the abilities of adventurers in warfare? The more Mikey spoke, the more interested Johanna became and the more sparkles zipped out from her eyes. She could feel the cart accelerating, after the rebel at the reins had whipped the horses.
For the time being both fell silent. Johanna remembered the long and boring car trips from and to far away hospitals. Her parents had always forbidden her to read on those. “Look out of the window”, they had said, “you spend all this time in rooms reading. Isn’t it nice to see nature once in a while?” What she had seen from the backseat of the car hadn’t been nature, though. Nature was beautiful, wondrous, and sometimes even sublime. The endless rows of almost dead trees at the side of the road, however, was neither of that. There had always been more nature in a single page of any book than there had ever been outside the window of a car.
“What’s up with Adelbert?”, her thoughts snapped her back into reality, a world in which there actually was the beauty of nature visible outside of the cart she was currently driving in, “Shouldn’t he at some point catch up with us? I somehow doubt that ‘simple town guard’ has no means to get hands on a horse. And judging by all this junk in here we are probably a lot slower than a single rider.”
More time passed and the sun was getting close to the horizon, when music and laughter could be heard in the distance… Tags: Mikey01 Word Count: 279 Total Word Count: 2849
Notes: How about we somewhat crash the town festival, Adelbert catches up to us and we get into a fight in the midst of the festival? Thereby making quite the trouble for that Lily NPC and possibly causing a tragedy?
Mikey answered Johanna. "As for him. If he does reach us. I or we will have to deal with him.. I don't intend on letting him stop my business." He kept driving the cart and focusing on the things in front of him. He kept driving the cart, until he noticed a group settlements in the distance. Settlements that appeared to be houses, laid across grass fields, resembling a type of country side. The cart got closer got to the collection of houses as Mikey slowed the cart down.
He slowly drove the cart to toward the entrance of the town that the houses belonged to, a place called "Tarracina." The sounds of music and cheerful laughter echoed through the area. He thought about his plans as the cart went past the entrance and into the town. The sounds of music and cheerful laughter echoed through the area.
He muttered for Johanna, "Alright. I'm stopping here for a day. Do you want to stay?"
"I was planning to stay… yes”, Johanna replied slowly in an elongated matter, as her focus shifted towards the sounds all-encompassing her. Right after Mikey had finally stopped the cart somewhere, she got out as quickly as possible and not minding her immediate surroundings she was drawn to the colorful lanterns of the ongoing festival like the flies in a summer night.
“What do you think this festival is all about?”, she asked loudly but intended mostly to herself. “Honoring a god or a hero? Thanking someone for something? Celebrating some sort of event?” With disheveled hair from the long trip in the cart and still in the long linen undergarments of her armor she slowly walked towards the lights and voices, which she supposed were coming from the town square.
“Don’t leave without me. I need to see more of that rebellion plotline”, she purposefully said to Mikey but without turning around to face him. “Or better yet, come with me, so that I don’t miss anything.”
Uttering these words Johanna left the cart behind her. In all honesty, her genuine interest in the story behind a folk festival wasn’t the only thing drawing her towards the town square. Throughout the day she hadn’t eaten much, and hunger had suddenly overtaken her in full force. Possibly it had always been there and she just didn’t realize, which was nothing out of the ordinary for her. Luckily an adventurer’s body didn’t seem to change all that much due to a lack of nourishment or Johanna had already become as petite as Sola had been.
Olivia was out getting some ingredients for some food in a lit up area just outside of the Town Tarracina.(she was here to learn new cooking skills and add to her cookie ingredients) Olivia began to feel hungry and lep up to go to her bag on the other side of the track. She stopped in the middle and noticed a rare cooking ingredient in the middle of it "ooo perfect ill use this!!".
She saw a cart going into the town and saw 2 people.. one in the cart and one steering the horse, she decided (OOOO this looks like an adventure I must follow...but not get too close hehe) she thought to herself.
She ran quickly to catch up to them blending in with the people of the Town and making sure they don't spot her following them. "Hehe I can't wait to jump scare them"
Mikey replied to Johanna. "Yea Sure. I'll follow you. As for the festival.. It doesn't interest me. " As he hopped off the cart. He went to its back area and opened a crate with an emanating glow. He grabbed the crate with his left hand and held it next to his chest. He then walked toward Johanna and started following her.
He looked down at the crate he was holding. Alright. I have the magic weapons, the most important items.
He stared ahead and continued to muse in his thoughts. I'll hold on to these before making any moves. The cart doesn't matter since delivering these weapons is my only task.
He thought about Adelbert. I'll kill him if I see him.
To Johanna’s surprise Mikey was actually following her and thereby her selfish request to keep close should something happen she didn’t want to miss as well. “Maybe I should buy him something to eat now. That’s how you thank people, right?”, she mumbled to herself, while she was squeezing through the crowd. Good thing, she still wasn’t wearing her armor.
It didn’t take long, before she reached some kind of food stall, where she was immediately handed over a wooden bowl with meat stew inside, a wooden spoon and a mug of what seemed to be wine. “I’ll pay for the both of us”, Johanna told the middled-aged woman in front of her, before she fumbled some left-over coins out of her inventory being careful to not spill any of the wine or stew, while performing the necessary hand movements.
“Oh no, sweetheart”, the woman replied, “This festival is paid for by the village council. Just enjoy yourselves.” For some reason she was looking over Johanna’s shoulder to wink at Mikey. Then she slightly lowered her voice. “If I were you, though, I would change into something more normal. Not everyone here is that fond of the eccentricities of you adventurer types.”
Before Johanna could reply or ask one of the many questions, which nagged at her curiosity, she was shoved aside. While waiting for Mikey, she looked for some spot out of the way of the crowd to start eating the stew she had been handed. With the spoon firmly locked in her mouth she let her eyes roam around the village square. Whether the stew was tasting well or not she could not tell. She was too busy trying to ascertain answers to her questions. What was this festival about? What customs could she witness here? Was there anyway Adelbert–?
The spoon fell back into the bowl, when a childishly happy smile crept across her face. At the other end of the village square, a familiar waft of red hair was making his way through the crowd. Ever so gently smiling, the town’s people gave way to his dignified demeanor, albeit with a scorn on their faces from time to time.
“Hey, Mikey.” It would have been hard for her to hide her excitement if she had tried. “I believe, we got company.” She hastily took another spoon full of stew and pointed the mug of wine towards Adelbert. And after a few hastily gulped down spoons more and half a mug of wine, she readied herself for battle. After all she had to make sure Mikey wouldn’t lose if she wished to see this story unfold to the very end. Tags: OliviaMikey01 Words: 444 Total Word Count: 3557
Oliva watched the 2 slurp down some stew rather quickly...''pff they could of enjoyed that if that ate it slower pffff'' Olivia then noticed they got up rather quickly and they looked ready to fight?! ''Oh my something is going down better hang back and watch it unfold like a coward '' (she put her thumbs up to a tree she was next too...), Olivia looked around seeing other people just acting Normal while the other 2 readied for combat she kept sneaking closer and closer till ''OUCH U STUPID TR-...'' Olivia bumped into a small child and called the child a stupid tree.
''IM SO SORRY YOUR NOT A STUPID TREE!...My bad kid... have a cookie'' the kids eyes lit up and he ran away with the cookie back to his parents. ''hope me being loud didn't blow my cover''
Mikey sees Adelbert and changes his stance immediately. He then thinks about his next possible moves.
Let's see I could fight him head on here and cause a mess. But there's a chance of me losing or Johanna being struck down. And if that happens, do I abandon her? I'm still not completely healed from our last fight with this goon..
His brow furrows as he sees Adelbert getting closer to him and Johanna.
The better choice would be to get out of here without a fight. But how do we do that without being attacked by him? Its not like he's just going to let us go quietly.. We need some kind of bargaining chip... Some kind of leverage.
He then turns his head to see a crowd in the distance and its focus of attention, a young girl that was singing in what appeared to be a kind of local festival. Perfect, he thought as he looked over her status screen.
Lily? Huh... Looks like you're going to be my tool to get out of here.
Mikey turns to Johanna and whispers quickly. "I'm going to grab that singing girl in the crowd and then make a run for our cart. She's going to be our hostage to keep Adelbert at a distance."
After a few seconds, Mikey then bolted as fast as he could.
Adelbert heard the crash of his footsteps against the ground and looked around, alerted.
Mikey dashed forward and parted the crowd with force, to its surprise and dismay. He lunged towards Lily, who could only look at him with a startled expression. He then grabbed her by the torso, leaving her loud to scream behind him in horror. "Ah!-"
He ran towards the other end of the town for the cart with his target in hand.
Welcome to the help dialog for the Custom Mini-Profile Creator plugin!
Click on any of the tabs above to go through the plugin configuration process!
You can access this menu at any time by clicking on the icon in the bottom right bar (may not be applicable if you're on Forums.net), or you can disable the welcome window and/or the icon by going to Plugins > Manage > Custom Mini-Profile Creator and changing the Show Help option.
This step is essential as it gives the plugin everything it needs on the page to get as much profile information as possible.
To make the profile variables work you'll need to add a new line to the very end of Themes > Layout Templates > Mini-Profile and paste the code below on it. The code should be placed completely outside of the mini-profile, so if you're using the default mini-profile template this will be after the very last closing </div> tag. This needs to be done on every theme you have the plugin enabled on as the template is theme-specific.
If your mini-profile template is already customized and you've hit the variable limit for your template you're free to remove any lines from the code below if they contain information that you don't plan on using. For example, if you have no plans to ever add a user's IP to their mini-profile for staff reference you can remove <div class="mp-info ip">$[user.ip]</div> from the code and everything else will still work just fine.
Once you've added the HTML from the Layout Templates tab you're ready to move on to building your mini-profiles. If you want to get going and try some out now or you're not very adept at HTML, CSS, or Javascript, worry not! This plugin includes some examples for you to try out. You're free to skip to the Custom Profile Fields tab and read over this tab later when you're ready to build your own.
Here's a quick rundown of each of the components in Plugins > Manage > Custom Mini-Profile Creator:
Name This is the name you'll be adding to your custom profile field dropdown once you've finished coding the mini-profile. Pretty self-explanatory. Make sure this name is unique from every other name you use for your mini-profiles or you'll end up overwriting the earlier ones in the list.
HTML This is the HTML that will go inside your mini-profile. You can use just about any HTML tag here so long as it's appropriate for where the mini-profile is showing on the page. Please refrain from using <style> or <script> tags here. You have the next two sections for that! Also, remember that mini-profiles can show multiple times on the same page, so you shouldn't add ID attributes to any of your elements here. Two elements on the same page cannot have the same ID per HTML standards.
CSS This is where you'll place what would normally go in your forum's style sheet or what would normally be between <style> tags. Try to code your mini-profile's HTML in a way that will allow you to target it specifically with your selectors. For example, you can surround all of the content in your HTML with a <div> element with a class and target that class and its child elements specifically with your CSS. That way you don't accidentally target every mini-profile on the page with CSS that was meant for the one you're building. One more thing: The forum theme's CSS still applies beforehand, so your mini-profile may look right in one theme but not in another. The best way to circumvent this is to define as many styles as you can to override the theme's CSS.
Javascript Anything that normally goes between <script> tags will go here. This one's a bit tricky since you'll obviously want to target the custom mini-profile specifically. Luckily there's an easy way to do that. In your statements you can use the $(this) variable to target the mini-profile if you're coding using jQuery. Otherwise, if you only plan on using standard Javascript you can target $(this)[0] instead.
Once you've finished building your mini-profiles it's finally time to add them to the Edit Profile page for use! To enable selection of custom mini-profiles you'll first need to add two specific custom profile fields in Members > Custom Profile Fields in your forum's admin area:
Mini-Profile Theme
Staff Mini-Profile Theme
Mini-Profile Theme is for mini-profiles that are designed for member use. You can set the Who Can Edit option for this field to Staff With Power if you only want staff to be able to choose mini-profiles for users. Otherwise, if you want members to freely be able to choose their own mini-profiles you can choose Members and Staff With Power.
Staff Mini-Profile Theme is for mini-profiles designed specifically for staff use. This field is completely optional.
Set the type for both of these fields as Drop Down Selection. Click on the (View/Edit) link to add mini-profile names to each of these fields.
If you've just installed this plugin you should have three different mini-profiles already installed by default: Example 1, Example 2, and Example 3. You can add these to your dropdowns to test them out and see the plugin in action.
If you're having trouble getting this plugin to work despite following the instructions in the previous tabs you may want to check that each of your themes meets the prerequisites below in Themes > Layout Templates > Mini-Profile.
First, ensure that opening tag of your mini-profile template includes the $[miniprofile_class] variable in its class. On the default ProBoards theme it should look something like this:
<div class="$[miniprofile_class]">
Next, make sure that the default {foreach} loop for custom fields is present inside your mini-profile. It doesn't need to be visible, so you're free to add it inside a hidden element if you don't plan on displaying it or if it would mess up the appearance of your own custom template.
Beyond that you can do whatever you like to the mini-profile template for the most part and it shouldn't negatively impact the plugin.
The following is a list of available variables for use in the HTML section of the mini-profile creator and their definitions. Adding any of these to a mini-profile will generate the content described in its definition in place of the variable so long as the information that variable outputs is visible to you.
To reference your forum's custom profile fields you can use $[user.customfieldname], substituting "customfieldname" with your custom field's name. You'll need to type the name in all lowercase with no spaces and only use characters A-Z and 0-9.
For example, Mini-Profile Theme becomes $[user.miniprofiletheme]. This will output the value of the custom field. In the case of this example, it'll be the name of the mini-profile theme you've chosen in your profile.
IMPORTANT NOTE: These will only work if you followed the steps in the Installation tab of this window on each of your themes. Any themes that do not include the template code specified there will not have these variables replaced in the mini-profile.

You can utilize the $(this) variable in the Javascript component to target the mini-profile <div> element. For example, if you wanted to add a class to the mini-profile you can use:
$(this).addClass('class-name-here');
Profile variables can also be used in the Javascript component in this plugin. In Javascript the value undefined is used to signify that a value doesn't exist for the variable you've specified. With this in mind you can use profile variables in Javascript conditional statements within the plugin similar to how they're used in the actual layout templates section of the admin area.
if(variable) will only run if the variable you specify has a value.
if(!variable) will only run if the variable you specify has no value.
Example 1 (variable has value):
if(user.group){
$(this).find('.group').show();
}
If the user has their group displayed in their profile the above Javascript would make the HTML below visible if you had it hidden with CSS.
